The Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter has been a sanctuary for the abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens in Southern Arizona since 1965. We were founded as the Arizona Animal Anti-Cruelty League by Sister Theresa Seraphim, a Russian Orthodox nun from England. Sister Seraphim moved to Tucson in 1969 and lived at this location until she passed away in 1990. During her tenure at The Hermitage, Sister rescued not only cats, but chickens and guinea hens, peacocks, a handful of dogs and a donkey.
We encourage potential adopters to fill out our online adoption application. After your application has been processed, our Adoption Coordinator will contact you to schedule an appointment for your shelter visit. Adoption Prices: Kittens: $115 (2 for $200), Adults (1-9 years of age): $80 (2 for $130), Seniors (10 & older) &, Special Needs: $50, Seniors (60+) for Seniors (10+): $15. The Hermitage has so many amazing cats available for adoption! We are also working to find homes for our special needs cats, those with FIV, FeLV, diabetes and allergies and our senior cats. If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful felines, please fill out our online Adoption Application. Our Adoptions Department will process it and contact you shortly.
