As a service to the animals of our community, the Heartland pet adoption program is dedicated to placing pets in nurturing, loving, caring homes. Through an evaluation and application process, adoption coordinators match new owners with animals in need, placing approximately 70 dogs and cats per year. Every pet that is placed in a new home has been evaluated, treated, and declared disease free. They are current on all vaccinations, have begun heartworm and flea and tick prevention, are micro chipped, and have been spayed or neutered. There is a non-refundable, one time adoption fee which is used exclusively to offset the care and treatment of the animals in the program. This program is completely self-sufficient, relying totally on adoption fees, donations, and fund raising to operate. To inquire about a dog or cat in the Heartland adoption program, or to make a donation to the program, please call 859.238.7500 and ask to speak to an adoption coordinator.
