Our Mission: To care for the stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs and cats of Carroll County, Arkansas - placing as many as possible into loving homes. Promote responsible pet ownership and humane treatment for all animals. To help reduce pet overpopulation by promoting and providing low-cost spay/neuter programs.

Adoption process

Good Shepherd Humane Society takes in and adopts out approximately 250 animals per year that otherwise would have been euthanized. The average stay for an animal at our shelter is just over 10 weeks. Every animal that comes in receives thorough medical attention. They are housed in quarantine for a week (to be possibly claimed by their owner, as well as for health reasons); scanned for chips; and receive a complete wellness check. Animals are then given all necessary vaccines as well as flea and tick prevention. Finally, the pet is either Spayed or Neutered. Our goal is to place each animal in a “Forever Home,” so we have a very thorough adoption process and a high level of standards for Adopters. The Shelter staff will recommend a dog or cat based on the Adopter’s home situation, including other animals in the household, and Adopters have the opportunity to spend time with suitable candidates to get to know them. Fees: Puppies (Under 6 Months) and Small Dogs (Under 25 lbs): $95; Adult Dogs (Older than 6 Months and Over 25 lbs): $70; Cats and Kittens: $50.
