FIDO's Companion Inc. is non-profit 501(c)3 dog rescue organization made up of volunteers who perform vital functions in the process of rescuing animals. Operating out of Lorain County Ohio we primarily rescue dogs from the streets in our County and County Dog Pound or ill/injured dogs coming into our Vet Clinic from Cuyahoga County. Weekly we rescue dogs as well from many other rural county shelter in mid and southern Ohio and KY before they are put to sleep. We secondarily assist with taking in homeless stray dogs and funding the spay/neuter of homeless dogs and cats for other independent local rescuers and vet clinics who take them in off the street and work to rehome them. Lastly, we help fund the Spay/Neuter of dogs that low income owners cannot afford. FIDO's Companion rescue strives to find new adoptive families willing to make a lifetime commitment and be lifetime companions for each dog we rescue. Our focus is on the QUALITY of life we provide to one canine companion at a time. FIDO's Companion believes that the value of what we do is not in the Quantity of animals we save, but in the Quality of the new life we provide to them. We also know we cannot rescue our way out of pet overpopulation, therefore, we work in our rescue and with our community to ensure spay/neuter is achieved for animals we come into contact with or are made aware of needing altered. We also strive to educate the public including school age children about humane treatment of animals and the importance of spaying and neutering pets.
All of our dogs have been examined by a vet, brought up to date on their vaccines, spayed or neutered, fecal and heartworm tested. Click on the photo of the pet you would like more detailed information on. If you find one you would like to meet, please complete our Adoption Application. YOU MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD TO APPLY. After the adoption application is submitted we will complete your vet reference and/or personal references. If these references are approved, we will call you to do a phone interview. After the phone interview is complete and if we feel you will be a good match for the dog you are interested in, we will set up a meet & greet so you can spend time with the dog and we can meet you face to face. After the meet & greet, if all parties decide to move forward with an adoption a home visit will be completed before the formal adoption is finalized.
