The Edmond Animal Services Unit is a component of the Edmond Police Department’s Special Services Division. The Animal Services Unit is responsible for responding to calls for service within the community for issues involving animals - both wild and domestic. Animal Services is also responsible for the enforcement of municipal and state laws concerning the treatment of animals; the management of the City’s animal shelter; the humane treatment and care of animals in the shelter; as well as striving to reunite lost animals with their families and find new homes for the adoptable animals at the shelter.
The Edmond Animal Shelter has many wonderful pets to adopt. All are in desperate need of a loving home. If you are thinking about adding a new pet to your family, please consider one of our animals. We have friendly and knowledgeable staff who can help you choose a pet to best fit in with your needs and lifestyle. All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered and have received all age-appropriate vaccinations prior to being placed for adoption. Remember though, adding a pet to your family is a big decision. All animals require training and commitment. Some pets can live well into their teens and many may have special medical needs as they get older which include medication, frequent check-ups, etc., just like most humans. All these things, including the joy of having a loyal friend, should be factored in before you decide to take on this trusted responsibility.
