Darby's Place Cat Rescue is in our home. Darby's Place got its name because our cat (Darby, of course) epitomizes the best in cat rescue. Darby was hit by a car when she was four months old, an animal lover picked her up and took her to the Montgomery County (MD) Humane Society. MCHS took her to a veterinarian who treated her fractured pelvis. She went into foster care with a woman who specialized in convalescing cats. When the fractured pelvis was almost healed, the foster mother ran an ad in the paper for a home for a kitten that had been hit by a car. Leslie saw the ad and responded. We had over ten years with our sweet Darby before she succumbed to cancer. We're working towards the day when all cats are cared for and in a forever home, and there's a safety net for all of them. We can't keep as many cats as we take in. We are full up with resident cats (all rescues of one degree or another). Being listed in Petfinder will help us place the adoptable cats and kittens that come our way. Although we don't accept animals from the public (we have no more room), we may be able to help with advice if you contact us. We have some expertise with socializing cats, feline behavior problems (and their solutions), trap-neuter-return of feral cats, and what you need to know when you adopt a stray cat or caretake a feral cat colony. We also loan trapping equipment (and assistance) and can get you in touch with a low cost spay and neuter clinic if you have a feral cat colony that you would like to trap-neuter-return.
