About

Coastal Canine Rescue is located in Wilmington, North Carolina. We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to providing a safe, loving and permanent home for all of our four legged companions. We believe that most shelter dogs are GOOD dogs that just need more time than a County Shelter is able to give them to find their permanent home! We are an organization funded through donations. We are a 501c3 Charitable Organization and your donations are tax deductible. We do not have our own shelter facility. We use volunteer foster homes in New Hanover County who take dogs and puppies into their private homes until permanent, forever homes are found.

Adoption process

Our adoption process consists of an application being filled out and an adoption fee to be paid at time of adoption. Vet checks and a home visit may be done before applicant is approved. All of the animals available for adoption have received age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered and de-wormed. If appropriate they have received booster vaccinations as well and have been started on heartworm prevention according to veterinary instructions. Currently our adoption fee is $225 for our small dogs and puppies and $200 for our adult dogs. We set the fee per dog for our senior and special needs dogs, but normally their adoption fee would be $125. We reserve the right to raise our fee at any time or to not charge an adoption fee for some of the dogs. While we spend much more on our rescued animals, these fees give us some help in caring for all the animals which we keep until they are adopted.
