Cavy House is a non-profit no-kill organization that rescues guinea pigs from local bay area shelters and provides the necessary veterinary care and socializing needed to place these guinea pigs into forever, loving homes. Cavy House also boards guinea pigs to help pay for rescue expenses. Cavy House is a project of AVA/The Rabbit Haven, a 501(c)3 organization
Interested people should download the application and fill it out and return it to us. We will review it and after approval, an appointment can be made to visit our rescue and meet the piggies. During the adoption appointment, we spend a lot of time together, letting you take your time to select your piggy. If you have a guinea pig and are looking for a buddy, you need to bring your piggy to meet ours. Piggies have very strong opinions about who should be their future buddy. We like to say that you get to pick out your first piggy, but your piggies get to pick out the next one. If you find a good match and your guinea pig habitat is ready, you can adopt the piggy that day. The contract is completed during the adoption appointment. The adoption fee is $30 per piggy for “intact” piggies and $55 for spayed or neutered piggies. Neuters cost our rescue $95 each so if you’re able to give more, it’s appreciated. Please bring a carrier or something appropriate to transport your new piggies home with you. You can always contact us with any questions etc you might have.
