Cal State Dog Rescue was formed in 2014, although we have been helping homeless animals since 1997, as animal shelter volunteers and former board members/volunteers for other rescue groups. As a Rescue, we are contacted by animal shelters for help in placing dogs that have been missed by the public for a variety of reasons. Other rescue partners that we have close contacts with also contact us for assistance in helping dogs that they may not have room for. Last, but certainly not least, some folks just get in a bind and simply cannot keep their dog any longer, for any number of reasons. If we feel we can help, we will. We have wonderful, friendly and helpful people that make up Cal State Dog Rescue and always welcome new additions to our Cal State Dog Rescue family of volunteers. We typically hold our adoption events every other weekend, during the afternoon hours at Pet Food Express in Campbell, CA.
You can submit an application 2 different ways. What we recommend, is that you fill out an application prior to meeting the dog that you are interested in. Once received, we will contact you for a phone interview. We basically chat with you about what you are looking for in a dog and how this particular dog may fit into your lifestyle. If it looks like the dog will be a good fit for you, you will be given the first opportunity to meet the dog for possible adoption at our next adoption event. Should you decide that you would prefer to meet the dog before filling out the application, you are always welcome to come to our next scheduled adoption event. Meet the dog, take it for a walk on the leash and if still interested, fill out the application at that time. You will then speak to one of our volunteers who will go over your application with you, in hopes that you are a good match for the dog. Once approved for adoption, you will be given an adoption contract to fill out to finalize the adoption. Our adoption fee is $400.00. The dog will go home with you that day. Each dog is microchipped, spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and is put on parasite control. All paperwork will go home with you at the time that the dog is adopted.
