BunnyPeople is a non-profit 501(c)(3) domestic rabbit rescue, adoption and education organization founded in 1992. We educate the public through speaking engagements at businesses, church youth groups, children's organizations, schools and also retirement communities. We also take in unwanted, abused, abandoned and discarded domestic rabbits; get them necessary medical care, spayed/neutered and adopted into a forever and loving home where they will become an integral member of that family. We are a no-kill shelter, so any rabbit not adopted, lives out its life at our shelter with love, caring, compassion, respect and dignity. We have a shelter which houses 24 rabbits. We are a 100% volunteer organization. We have NO paid staff. We are managed, funded, and operate solely by volunteers. All our funding comes from adoption fees, fundraising efforts, membership fees, occasional grants, Guardian Angel Program, and the generous donations from our members and supporters.
You can visit during a "Meet the Buns" event (held once a month), visit during an Open House, or make an appointment to visit the shelter by sending an email to bunnypeopleadoption@gmail.com. All adopters must be screened by telephone before adopting a rabbit. If you would like to read our recommendations on rabbit care before you apply for adoption, please go to RabbitCare. BunnyPeople adopts out to individuals within a limited radius of our shelter in Harrisburg, PA for the safety and health of our rabbits. Generally, this covers central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. Please email us at bunnypeopleadoption@gmail.com if you are not certain if you are within our adoption area. We do not adopt to classrooms, nursing or personal care homes, or college students.
