Adoption process

APPLY - We promote our pets through a variety of channels including websites like Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet, Facebook, Instagram, and in-person events. When you see a pet you’re interested in adopting, the first step is to fill out the application found on our website. We are an all-volunteer staff and will review your application within the 1-5 days. Preference is given to applicants with verified vetting history, home ownership, and, for dogs, those with a fenced in yard. (Please make sure to call your previously used veterinarian and give them permission to release records to us.). MEET - After your application to adopt is approved, we can hopefully set up a time for you to meet our pet! We require all family members are present to ensure it is a great match for all. For dog and puppy adoptions, we ask that you bring your resident dogs to meet the dog/puppy you would like to adopt. ADOPTION - If during the meet and greet all parties are in agreement the pet is a match for you, you are able to adopt and take home that day! We will always coordinate the specifics with you beforehand to ensure the adoption process is smooth-going and stress free. Because we are a foster home-based rescue, we either rent a facility to hold the adoptions or hold them in an adoption coordinator's home. We are committed to being a resource and source of encouragement for our adopters for the lifetime of their Brave Rescue pet. We look forward to working with you!
