The Ashland County Dog Shelter takes in stray dogs or dogs brought in by the dog warden. The dogs are held for a set time before being claimed by the owner or vaccinated and put up for adoption. The dog warden and staff are employed by the county commissioners and tasked with enforcing Ohio Revised Code 955, which does not include animals other than dogs.
