Another Chance Animal Welfare League was founded in 2005 by six people with a vision, dedicated to help adoptable pets have “another chance” at a forever home. This organization was formed in memory of Abby, a shelter dog who deserved another chance and didn’t get one. We are a non-profit organization which has grown every year with the help of a wonderful group of volunteers, donors and thrift shop in Palo Cedro, CA. ACAWL expects it takes approximately $250,000 to run the entire program per year. A.C.A.W.L’s income comes in from the thrift shop, fundraisers, donations, events. It is staffed by volunteers from Tuesday through Saturday 10 am until 3 pm.
Interested persons must complete an adoption application. 1: The application will be reviewed and the applicant will be contacted to schedule a home visit. This visit is for an ACAWL representative to view the environment the animal will be living in for their forever home and to ensure healthy and safe environment. This is also a time when an ACAWL representative will offer advice to the potential adopter about any changes that could help make it as such. 2: The application and home visit information is then presented to the adoption committee for review. The adoption committee will then decide which home is the best fit for the animal in question. 3: The selected applicant will be notified and the animal will be delivered by an ACAWL representative. 4: Those applicants not selected will be notified and advised.
